What a nightmare!! I have replaced my front wiper motor for a brand new unit. Assembled everything right, dry run the motor (without blades fitted) to get to start position.
Refitted blades and now the wipers try to go down instead of up!
What could be the cause of this?

Something wrong with it ?

In all seriousness it's like it's set up for a lhd car. But I got it from Ecp so really can't see that being the case.

Linkage on wrong way

-Detach the wiper motor from the mechanism via its bolt.
-Turn on the wiper motor at the stalk switch then turn them off at the stalk switch after a few seconds.
-Wait for the motor to finish its cycle and come to a stop.
-Remove keys from ignition.
-Move wiper blades by hand to the correct park position at the driver’s side of the windscreen.
-Reattach the wiper motor to the mechanism via its bolt.

The wiper motor is attached to the mechanism, incorrectly by 180 degrees.

You have set the stop position 180 degrees out.

Should be good fro clearing snow off the bonnet.

LHD motors have the diodes in the other way around so they work backwards.

Spot on advice! Did exactly as you said and it worked. Much appreciated :-)
