Been having loads of disconnections regarding wireless i.e.

AppleTV airplay not working
Imac pages loading slow but good download speed
PS3 not finding router
some mobiles searching for wifi network

tried 3 BT Business hubs & 1 AOL hub (AOL hub slightly better with the mobiles)

What sort of place do you live in?

Apartment or houses with lots of other houses relatively close by?

It's quite likely to be caused by interference from other WiFi networks. Finally other household equipment, microwaves & baby monitors can also interfere.

Most WiFi routers are set to Auto channel selection, it's possible that you have congestion. Many smartphones have WiFi Analysers that you can download which will help determine if it's a channel problem.

I've recently found that I am having diabolical wireless performance (as are all devices in our house).

Not sure what's causing it, and am making other changes to my network first. Part of my problem is that for some reason despite updating the driver my laptop will not connect to my BT Router, only to a signal externder I use in another part of the house.

apartment with houses around, tried changing channels but still the same, its been fine up till last week!

TIA

I had same prob with the laptop, refused to get on the net despite connected to the router....some how it lost its DNS server address.

Also fine until last week.

I almost wonder whether BT have updated firmware?

Took the AppleTV back for a new one & the chap said he's router is playing up on wireless issues & thought the router is on the blink! mmm whats going on!

Maybe one of your neighbours is playing with something like this?

Solar flare will have affected wifi and other rf devices?

I've sorted my issues out with a Bullion Router. Should have done it ages ago, connections is faster, and wifi has a better range also.

Before you spend any money, you need to identify the problem.

Take one of your more mobile devices and try using it next to the router for a while.

Do you get any issues then?

tried that, still the same :(

Interesting about Infinity - have it and haven't the issues described yet, maybe they are coming soon :-(. IN any case this wouldn't affect just wireless connection, it would affect wired connection too.

First, see if the problems are present in wired connections, if so then sounds like equipment. Sounds like you either have bad equipment or lots of interference. You tried various boxes so let us rule out the former, likelihood is you are on a congested Wi-Fi channel, try changing to another channel. BT Home hub isn't great at auto selecting IMHO, but I haven't had the nightmares some describe with it. Hope this works for you.

Assuming your router has an integrated switch (most do), is it possible to connect any of your devices directly using a CAT5 cable?

It's important to ensure that you can identify whether it's a general network problem or just on wireless.

Have you tried changing the type of encryption on the home hub?
what type are you using?
