Wood veneer around gear lever

I looked at a 500SE and the veneer was slightly cracked/split. Is it easy/inexpensive to replace this?

they are quite pricey - couple of hundred pounds from MB.

Thanks guys, I've not seen it before, any idea why it should degrade like this?

It cracked probably from the heat generated from the Sun/Tranny..... or the fit was bad and the wood buckled and eventually cracked from the hot interior due to sitting in the Sun.

Eventually, the leather will deteriorate too!

Keep the car out of the sun or get one of those aluminumized top covers that covers the car top & windows and tie down to the door handles.
