Hello Elecy-Techies,

My Blaupunkt Sevilla RDM 168 is on it's last legs.
It intermittently switches off then on again; momentarily for less than a second. Would that be a problem with the stereo or cabling at the rear of the stereo?

I've just bought a second-hand Blaupunkt Woodstock 52 from my Dad 'cos it woundn't fit in his new car.
Will this plug straight into the wiring loom currently there?
Will I have to fit the external aerial he needed to use?
Will the original speakers match the power of the Woodstock?
Does anyone have an installation manual I could borrow or buy?

Car model is E300TD Elegance 1999.

Thanks

Jonathan

I have the woodstock 53 - this is the DAB radio - you dont NEED the dab aerial - but its a bit pointless having it without...

Its basically the same - yours doesnt appear to ahve the MMC card reader... oh no - like the worlds going to fall apart.. :D

Yes - the std speakers will work - - but its a bit of an insult to the head unit - but its your money, not mine (and your ears)

Its plug'n'play - its all standard ISO connectors - except the dab aerial - which is one unto itself.

try your old radio in a mates car - does it power off and on? does it do it in your car with ign on, but not running or doing anyhting (ie no vibration?)? if so - the sevilla is dead... if it works fine in your mates car / it works fine stationary - its your wiring i suspect.... (also try tapping the headunit to see if you can induce the on/offness? )

Oh yes it does :D - what it doesn't do is record - Oh the shame of it  :D

The rest is as Guy said really. If you want the DAB then you do need a DAB aeriel. Doesn't have to be external - but the externals are by far the better option. The internal ones look pretty naff.

Speakers - see how you feel with the ones you have and then replace if you feel it necessary. The 52(which is what I have) does produce a good output in the main :D

Thanks People,

I forgot to mention, the Sevilla sometimes won't turn on when the ignition is turned on. But 10 to 15 minutes later I can turn it on!

Will try all you have suggested.

My Dad has given me the DAB aerial, I just need to fit it but being the laziest car modifier in the world, I'm not looking forward to it!

By the way can the Blaupunkt stolen/replacement and warranty be transfered from person to person (ie re-registered to me) ?
