Mercedes 380 SEC
I was out driving earlier (the girlie in my life needed ice cream) and we totally by chance were confronted with a Merc 380 SEC for sale at silly money. Depite a few obvious rust spots, a faded fabric interior that will need replacing with a little leather, high mileage and apparent running difficulties I was smitten and as it was principally straight/clean I snapped it up on the spur of the moment.

Whilst being mechanically minded, I envisage my next project (to strip and rebuilld the V8 powertrain) to provide hours of delight. However I am having a little trouble locating a relevant workshop manual. Can anyone assist?

I am sure this will not be my last post and any help would be greatfully received.

Regards

I can't help with your question matey, so all I'll say is good luck and don't forget a Project thread. :)

Many thanks any way. I will certainly keep all posted through what I expect to be a pleasurable but periodically frustrating refurb (as long as the ongoing house repairs and kids don't get in the way too much).

Cheers

Have been looking for a project for a couple of years. Thought it's now or never regardless of the house so when the passion rose I just jumped at the chance. This could be a long running saga but bear with me.

think you might find it hard to find a workshop man, best thing is look at a few
american parts sites to find one but they are costly

Good luck with this, sounds like a fantastic project.

Many thanks for the advice, everybody. I have managed to find a Mercedes Coupe Workshop Manual which covers a number of models including the 380 SEC via the Haynes website under the Chiltern USA range. It was only £27 including postage so it's ordered and I'll keep you posted how useful it is when it arrives.

I must admit, I am really looking forward to clearing the garage at the weekend and making a start. Like a kid with a new, but undoubtedly yet to be costly, new toy.
