Would you ever buy back a car you've sold?

Car
Range Rover TDV8
I sold a silver 53 plate 2004 W211 E320 CDI Avantgarde with panoramic roof to a forum member on here and would gladly buy that car back if it was in similar condition to when I sold it; that car was mint.

I sold a MGB Roadster in 1980 and would buy it back............................for the same money !!

If I had the room, and the new owner had finished fixing it up, I would have my old Rover SD1 back. It was lovely, but needed far more work than made economic sense for me at the time.

I guess it depends why i sold it - although TBH every car i have ever sold is significantly better when i sold it than it was when I bought it.

I'd love to buy my old Scimitar back if i ever found it again! I'd also like to buy my old Jag XJR back, but the running costs were extortionate (13MPG hurts now!)

Most of the cars I've sold have gone to close friends (apart from those two) so I always make sure they're 100% before selling, and always give a lifetime warranty, I'd rather keep a friend than make a bit of money.

I'm still regularly working on the Alfa Spider I sold to a friend 3 years ago, I recently replaced the roof motor and re-wired the limiters so it worked more efficiently.

I'm the same with my bikes too, most of them go to friends at a really good price and get free lifetime support so yes, I'd buy them back too if I ever fancied one of that type again.

I would buy my E320cdi estate back and I would buy my M3 CSL back as well, was tempted to buy the 535d sport touring off him when he sold that, but I had just bought something else.

Recently traded my daughter's first car. Cost her peanuts to maintain and was free from her Mum in the first place, never let her down, but had burnt out an exhaust valve, which meant an expensive complete engine rebuild, but it was still a runner. She knew it was the right thing to do, but still shed a tear in the car park. She doesn't love the shiny 12 month old Astra the way she did the old Polo.

A week later it was up for sale at twice the trade-in price. If I had the money and the space I'd buy it back and keep it as a family heirloom.

I would gladly buy back my W202; even with the sheared axle bolts. bent struts and blown suspension....

Problem is, it was sold to a mechanic in timbuktu, so the likelihood of me ever seeing it again is very slim (though I've seen it in a tourists photograph - apparently it's used, still with the 124Works and mbclub vinyl's), as a tourist transport around the region!

You're a brave man.
I had three of them.
Lovely cars when they were running.
Troublesome !!!
I can't believe they've got any better with age !

Would love to have my old Uno Turbo back, had to trade up because two had become three!
I had the the car for nine years, ended up one of the quickest Uno's in Britain, 170bhp at the wheels, Superchiped, abarth cam, flowed and ported head, hybrid turbo, larger injectors, Janspeed exhaust, twin plate clutch, uprated gearbox, eibach springs, koni shocks, tarox large disc brakes, 15in wheels with Yokohama track day tyres 0-60 in 6.3, lowered final drive gave a top end north of 140 but was getting a bit unstable after that. Acceleration was mental and in the mid range it was faster from 70 - 120 than a porsche 911 of the same age! (1988)
Sold it to mechanic from the garage I traded in to, he promptly turned up the underbonnet bleed valve for the turbo lunched the motor big time!

WAY to many to list...
My last 911 at the top of the list...S500 LWB 2nd...track day car 3rd...

Nissan 200SX14a
Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbro

see I'm going on now.....

Three amongst many that still cause a mild stirring in the piston-glands.....

Alfa GT Junior - bought for £30.00, sold for £45.00
BMW 2000 Touring - £200 in/£0 scrapped
Mk2 Vitesse convertible - bought for £75.00, swapped for a knackered Norton Commando, sold for £2,500.00.

I'd buy any of them again.....[sigh]

No I wouldn't.

Would all have way too many miles on.

Oh, hang on, my old 520i from 1995 was a lovely old smoker. Bought it off my dad at 10 years old, only 2.0 but straight 6. V velour seats and those weird cross spoke alloys which only used expensive Dunlop tyres. I loved that car.

I'd buy back my old C43. I loved that car..

I sold it to Jay Manek (Mercland) who sold it on to someone in the Channel Islands, so even now it shouldn't have too many miles on it. It might need a good thrash to de-coke it though..

Cheers,

Gaz

I bought a Range Rover Classic and Volvo T5-R twice! (they where both sold to family members that offered them back after a while)

I wouldn't buy back most of my previous cars to be honest, as the moment has past and I sold them to get something different. The exception being one of the Jaguars and the Bristol.

I would buy back my 1966 Triumph Bonneville I sold in 1970.
Especially for what I sold it for back then, £110.

Always wanted my GT6 back, which I crashed the day before it was being sold!

SBT 55H.

Mind you I am not sure I would be able to get in it now!!

I wanted and tried to buy my first Opel Manta 2.0 GTE Exclusive back so I could get it turbocharged.

However, not only did the owner after me not contact me back like he said he would, but I did sell it on in a much worse condition than when I bought it - even though I got back what I paid a year on... I didn't really care about mechanical sympathy then!

Would love to buy back my old passion wagon :-)...Black 1.9 205GTI...sold it back in 1999, had it star chipped, peco exhaust, circa 150HP...due to low weight it used to fly lol it was on a H plate...and its still taxed according to VOSA!

EDIT: just checked its on SORN
