2012 E63 Wagon
Probably been asked before but after 4 + years of owning my E63 M157 i'm thinking of changing & have been looking at C63 W205 wagons.
I dearly love my E63 wagon but i fear it might be time for a change...i've watched so many reviews & you tube videos of the W205 it's annoying Mrs Cooke so I thought i'd ask if anyone on here has made this change & see what their thoughts are regarding the downsize to a C class.
I was chatting to Adam at Project AMG whilst picking up my car from it's latest service & he suggested the E53 but i'm not sure i'm ready yet to move away from a V8.
Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jon

I've not tried an E63 but I have tested a couple of S205 models. Try one and you'll know within minutes if it's for you.

The C63 is very easy to live with, effortless pace and strong front end grip. It's not much of an 'event' though. Does your E63 give you the tingles every time you drive it?

In all honesty...yes - even after 4 years i can't believe how well it drives & the performance is still blistering (assuming you can actually get the power down) - i see where you're going with this..

What’s making you want to change? If you love the car you have, then stick with it, and wait u til the car you know you really want comes along.

Don't do it buddy, hold out for the S213 V8? Prices are still at mark up and rather expensive, maybe wait and enjoy what you have 🙂

Before buying my second M157 E63 I seriously considered a switch to a W205 C63. The W205 incarnation of the C63 is a much more rounded proposition than the M156 W204, but for me it didn’t have the “total package” feel of the E-class.

IMO, it's not until you move away from a W/S212 E63 that you truly appreciate what a uniquely complete package it is.

That would be my next weapon of choice but the £50k price tag is too rich for me at the moment - i think it's the 4ltr Biturbo i want, i'm impatient & see the C63 as the next step towards the E63...
Knowing me, i'll forget about it for 12 months or so then see if the prices have come down.

Yeah, as per Mr Bobby Dazzler it is the S213 V8 wagon i'm really hankering after...

I actually like that, thumbs up from me👍

The inside is definitely a notch up, the chrome accents and the layout and especially the seat looks more modern. How far is it buddy, maybe go for a test drive and check it out to see if it feels right.

Chichester, so not miles away....it's got the night pack as well...looks good.
Maybe next weekend I should find an excuse to head there..

I don't live far from there and looked at an E63 there a while back. Not seen that actual car but usually their cars are quality looked after ones.

Same goes for its sibling, the M157 CLS SB. Never say never, but I'm planning on keeping it until my driving terrifies everyone for all the wrong reasons...

Good luck buddy 👍

It's got a pan roof which is a bonus for an estate. For them holidays, if you needed extra space for luggage could also add a car roof box, so if car appears smaller than expected at least there is that option for the occasional holiday trips so can't go wrong🙂

IMO a move from 204 -> 205 and 212 -> 213 is a step in the right direction, but I’m not sure 212 -> 205 is quite as appealing.
I understand the financial side of it, but if you still love your S212 E63 after owning it and being accustomed to the size of it after 4 years of ownership I’m not sure a double jump (size and generation) is the right thing to do.

Yeah, as per Mr Bobby Dazzler it is the S213 V8 wagon i'm really hankering after...

Previously, I shifted from a 205 C63s to a 213 E63s and they are worlds apart.
If I was you I would hold out for your ‘ideal’ car and skip the S205 C63* and an (significant or not) additional amount of loss in depreciation.

*There is absolutely nothing wrong with the 205, they are a brilliant car.

I think you may find the 205 a little compact coming from a 212 wagon. I have a similar sized 204 wagon and its a little cramped after the 212.
I can understand the pull of that 4lt biturbo but I'd hold out for a 213 wagon and just enjoy what you have for the time being.

W205 C63 estate is a hugely capable car but seems a bit “within itself” unless you are driving like a maniac. It doesn’t have the sense of occasion of your current car. Very smooth and fast and competent. Doesn’t have the wild edge some of the V8s have. And that light steering doesn’t help.

Tbh the car above is pretty basic no toys and NO performance exhaust if I was after a s205 I wouldn't buy that 1 like many have said stick with what you have until you either see 1 you fancy or the E63 estate comes within budget 🙂

I'm not far from you in Ferndown and looking for a specialist to service my SL63. Would you recommend Project AMG? I've used PCS in the past but its a bit of a trek compared with Verwood.

Forget a 205 estate this provides the thrill of driving that a 205 never will -
