Hi all
Just after peoples views: I will be getting a quote on friday for the wrapping of all the window surrounds, front grille etc on my W204 C63 wagon in Obsidian black. Would people go for matt black or gloss black for the mentioned pieces I have already purchased gloss black badges to replace the chrome ones.
TIA for any replies

I would (and have) gone with gloss black on my CLS & ML, both of which are obsidian black in colour. :)

i did matt wrap on side windows and plastidip on grill, DRLs and rear boot handle

Nice stealth look!

How fashions change!

Back in the day, black or no trim was poverty spec, chrome was for the higher spec - e.g. Ford Corsair waistline, Zodiac/Zephyr, even Austin Maestro base model had black bumpers.

I have to admit I still prefer chrome, but each to his own.........

I was thinking of doing the same on my car. I emailed a few places to get quotes- one of the companies said that wrap doesn't adhere to the chrome well and can peel. They recommended to remove the trim and have them dipped.

Can anyone confirm about the peeling?

only had it for about a month, no peeling so far. good thing about wrap is its reversible. if you intend to sell back to oem spec.

one of the companies said that they didn't have a clue about wrapping They recommended to remove the trim and have them dipped

Can anyone confirm about the peeling?

Fixed that for you!

Have had several of my cars done and never once has it peeled. IIRC my CLS has been done for over 2 years and the ML at least one and are as good as new. You need to find a reputable company who specialise in wraps, better still put your location on here and get a recommendation from a forum member who may have used a company local to you :thumb:

I had my window trim and roof rails dechromed by a company is SE London called Tauro Design. They are not as large as some of the other places but the lad who runs the company is very very talented indeed. He does all the work and he takes MASSIVE pride in that.

I obtained several quotes but he gave me the most confidence in what he was going to do.

Car looks fantastic now - why oh why did MB decide Chrome was a good idea?

My car is a wagon in White so it isn't too 'badboy':thumb:
