Opened passenger door panel removed silver trim to fit new speakers, found this written on the silver panel.

any ideas what it is or could mean ?

Date of registration was 07/08/2017, so confused why this hand written date is 14/01/2017 ?

Well the dates on original car parts will always be older than the car's date of first registration....

That said, this particular writing looks to me like the part was bought somewhere second-hand from a breakers yard, possibly to replace the original panel that somehow got damaged under a previous owner.

Normal quality control mark.

Your car was registered in August but could have been sitting on a ship, or in a massive storage for months.

As above . Or the part was taken for testing/quality checks during manufacture in any one of many countries MB parts are made , passed and was re introduced into the chain , missed the boat and popped up on the production line at a much later date . The writing is very European with the distinctive '1' and 'Z' and 'Olog' (with the umlat over the 'o' )

Only about ten languages use umlat and German is one of them , so you might have an MB C class that was built in Bremen and not South Africa , Alabama or Brazil . :).

look closely at the plastic part (or any other trim/panel that is easy to remove and look for the date moulding that is changed periodically in the tooling to help with quality and maintenance . That will give you the rough dates of when the car was assembled.

As Petrol Pete has said this panel could be the first off from a new tool and so was checked that it was in spec and so the hand written message on the part.

Unbelievable quality of replies, amazes me every time, hats off.
