Wrong oil put in engine .

Shades of cosmetics adverttising there; put something meaningless, but sounding like advanced technology, on the label and the mugs will buy it. It works, too.

I've got no problem with the mineral group 3 oil basestock being described as a synthetic as it's highly refined .

There's always group 4 and 5 true synthetics to add and then there's the additive package concentration.

Some good oils are just that , groups 3 , 4 and 5 + additive package .

Castrol ( BP ) are mediocre at best and their marketing stinks the worst being 4L and 'Magnatec' trying to make the oil seem special and unique but the masses don't have a scooby and seemingly fill their boots .

Love this one for SUV engines , SUV.....

Dual lock technology..
... WTF .

Sh1t does this mean I've been using the wrong oil... mine doesn't say it's specifically for estates...?

And here was me thinking that wonderful age-defying ingredient 'Highlymoronic Acid' was the reason for their youthful looks.🙂

As a student I worked at a BP garage and we had to keep the Duckhams under the counter for regulars.
I was desperate to hand over a porno mag when they winked and requested some from under the counter.

Thanks all sorted now . It was not the wrong oil i put in the engine,, no,, but .It was oil that i did not want to use .Old 32 year old engine that > could < have leaked, had i used the fully synthetic oil . Castrol do not label their containers as they should be.. Been running on Magnatec semi synthetic oil for years . And every container had on it Semi Synthetic or Fully Synthetic .But some have the right labels on them ,but others are afixed with this new logo Synthetic Technology and not semi synthetic .

I’m confused, are they not te same, just worded different?

Spot on. Synthetic Technology = Not Just MIneral Oil, But Definitely Not Fully Synthetic, and has for a good few years; the OP obviously didn't know that. Castrol have changed the labelling a bit, that's all.

Would be handy to know exactly what oil basestock groups are used in any oil , but it can all be rather secretive .
