Hi, my CLS s/b seems to be developing an intermittent problem with the rear suspension (it only has rear air suspension)

It never drops fast, but sometimes overnight I'll find the rear has dropped either a bit, or completely down. Sometimes it looks fine like it hasn't dropped at all. It's parked on a sloping driveway. I use the car regularly so it's never really left more than 12 hours without being driven.

The workshop has has a look over it, sprayed everywhere with soapy water, and can't see any leaks, so are suggesting that it may just have to get worse before they can diagnose it, but it does seem to be happening more frequently now.

Does the problem being intermittent suggest anything? If it was a leak, I'd have thought it would be more consistent, right?

Thanks for any insight!

Ours does the same. Sometimes overnight and others will stay up for days when not used. It always pops back up. I wouldn't worry.

Hi CMJohn, did you get anywhere with the suspension issue. I have an E300 Estate with the same problem. can't find a leak and nothing turns up on a diagnostic.
Thanks Jamie
No... After a period of time where it seemed to be happening more frequently, it's gone back to rarely happening again...

I'm sure there must be some sort of problem developing, but possibly it gets better with warmer weather. My car has done nearly 100k miles and 9 years old, so I guess even coiled spring suspension might fail eventually, so I'm viewing it as a serviceable item now! But will keep driving until the problem gets worse.

Thanks for the reply, It is difficult with intermittent problems, I don't want to start replacing parts and it still have a problem. The car didn't do very many miles for the last year and was sitting in a driveway over the winter months. I will live with the issue for a while and see what happens
