Hi all,

Just got a 2012 X218, loving it so far but as ever, needs to be practical so I need to get a set of roof racks.

Any advice on which ones to get, as there isn't a huge range. I'll be putting 14' SUP Raceboards on the roof, light but quite high windage, so looking for a decent, dependable set! Happy to buy off someone if they're looking to sell.

Thanks

Thule do good bars/racks. You buy a car specific foot set then brackets to fit the feet and bars to fit the brackets. But looking at the Thule site they don't seem to do one for the cls anymore yet they did in the past. What model year is yours as you might find independents still have stock.

Edit, this from e-bay

Thanks, courtesy of Facebook someone put together the Thule parts list which I have managed to order off Ebay, a couple of new bits and some second bars... Once it has all turned up and it fits then I'll put the list here for reference.

Right, rook rack bits have turned up and it all works! Total price, via 3 bay purchases was about £140ish, with the bars being used and the rest being basically new... a few photos attached and there is only a slight increase in wind noise I can detect, shutting the sunroof blind basically removes it, or having the radio or, or the kids whingeing in the back...

The angle on the back footpad looks wrong, I did double check but I'll check again this weekend, might be better the other way...

The magic numbers are:
THULE FITTING KIT 3049 - This is the feet pads which sit on the roof
Thule 751 Rapid System Fixpoint XT - These are the 'legs'
Thule 7113 - Wingbar, length 127cm, guess you can use other bars but this length fits well, with a slight overhang on the legs.

It does look at bit off. Proofs in the pudding I guess.

No new photos (as I did it in the dark), but swapping the rear feet has sorted it. So all good, and the slight wind noise has dropped as well...
