I'm sure that my drivers side headlight is slightly darker than the passenger side. Is this a sign that the bulb is on its way out or is it quite normal?

Hi,
Have you replaced one of the lamps lately?
They are meant to be replaced in pairs as they burn they change colour slightly so new one could possibly be a different colour

I haven't changed them no. Not sure if the previous owner had though.
When parked in front of a wall the headlights look a slight different colour, the drivers side not being as white as the passengers side.

Hi,
So its been a different colour since you bought it?
If it bothers you, change them as a pair, then if you wanted too you could change the colour of them.
For your info I believe the standard colour/temp is 4300K.
You can buy the new lamps on e-bay at less than £20 a pair.

Really only £20 for the pair, I was under the impression they would cost a fortune :thumb:
This is the Mercedes xenon upgrade and not some after market add on piece of crap, are they the same bulbs that I need then? Anyone changed the bulbs in there Mercedes?
I'm guessing the 4300k is what I should stick to as well, want to leave it as stock as possible.

Thanks for your help andy27168, much appreciated :bannana:

My Xenon passenger headlight turned a dull orange colour one day. Combined with the fact the internal leveling mechanism had snapped I knew it was time for some new headlights. To be honest the light coming from the drivers side was very dull anyway.

I change mine for "some after market add on piece of crap" ones  which are simply brilliant :thumb:

Did you simply replace the bulbs or the whole unit as well.
I'm only after the bulb if it can be replaced with one of these units on eBay.

Hi, I had the same problem as you B088IN when I first got my car. It normally happens because one bulb is changed on its own instead of the pair however it is also possible that one bulb is simply on its way out. Either way you need to change both bulbs so that they match. Ebay bulbs work perfectly that’s where I got mine from they were £20 for the pair and they even come with warranty

Just make sure you get the right ones though. It should be D2S if you have projectors in your headlights otherwise you should be after D2R bulbs but just double check that first.

Hi,
Below is the link for the lamps i bought for my C43 (D2R).
2x REPLACEMENT XENON HID Bulbs D2R 4300K E CLASS 95+ on eBay (end time 09-Nov-10 15:12:14 GMT)
The same seller but D2S,
2x NEW REPLACEMENT OEM XENON HID Light Bulbs D2S 4300k on eBay (end time 03-Nov-10 16:45:05 GMT)

As to which type yours needs I,m not sure, but i,ll have a look at any info i have to see which ones are fitted to your car.
I "think" yours will be the same as mine D2R.

Hi,
From the info i have the 208 OEM has D2R lamps fitted.

Thanks guys. Mine is the w208 with factory fit xenons on a 1999 plate. Pretty sure there not projectors just standard xenon. Also what temp bulb should I go for. Want to look same as factory xenon not the horrible blue most after market kits look like, is the 4300k you suggest the standard?
Thanks

Hi,
4300K is OEM,
The first link i put up in post 9 should be suitable for your car and are 4300K.

Cheers mate. I'll order a set. Just got to get the side lights now as they are a horrible yellow, so many options available though, difficultmto know which are best! Do you know if the side lights are BAX9, bit confusing with some saying it's 501.

Oh and also silver indicators for the front as I hate the orange look through the lenses!
