I toured MBworld and did a 30min instructed session in the new e500 coupe (I was too mean to pay extra for an AMG) and this was a fast (and a lot faster than mine) car which was a joy to drive. It is afflicted with the poor cabin of the 204 but the engine, driving position and handling were A1. I had a lot of fun doing standing starts and at 388bhp tricky not to wheel spin.

The ESP on and ESP off skid pan sessions tought you a lot about the systems in our cars that may well save our lives if we overcook it. I admit to spinning it 1st time I booted with the ESP and turned into the skid. The session was informative and alas too short but was a sober reminder that our driving probably isnt as good as we'd like to think it is.

aye was there about 6-7months back. Very similar but a few new bits. Liked the SLR drop top and didnt like new E63 inside or out really. E500 coupe, well wow, I reckon in a few years you'd be happy in one.

SL65 looks evil from rear 3/4s.
One above that - new E63? Iquite like the rear of that with the forward rake on the lights and the black (cf?) spoiler.

Aye Jon the SL65 is just awesome in the flesh. Hope they let it be hired for experiences. That would be something. Yip, E63 above it, just inside it didnt feel like £80ks worth. I doubt that would bother you though hahahaa

IIRC it's got a joystick and not a steering wheel

Yes you can see the the 220 face. Probably the real purpose of that concept. Its a 1996 design so 13 years on...

Car photos aside, glad you had fun in the E500. I well recommend any car control days to anyone.

I was surprised when I read in evo this month that the E500 has more power than the 55 non-K AMGs did. And had to laugh at, 'we like it because it's not a CLK', or whatever it was they said
