XP and logging off / shutting down

Keep getting nagged to ask the following question.....

I have an XP home machine as the main family box. My account seems to work fine (logs off OK, shuts down when I ask it). However....

Wifey & Daughter - log off / swap user = shutdown
Son - swap user = OK; log off hangs shutting down "MSOFFICE" even when no such thread is running.

Can anyone save me from yet another tirade of abuse tonight? Any pointers or advice would be much appreciated.....

Have you tried running a Microsoft Update? Office/Windows may be in need of some hotfixes/service packs...

In IE try http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx

I would never recommend fast user switching since it is renowned for causing problems such as this.

Log off each time and you wont have a problem.

Must admit, at home we have 3 users and allways use the logoff feature.

You could try the repair feature in Office.
GO to the control panel, add & Remove programs, Ms Office - Repair.

You may need the orginal disk...
