Ive just reinstalled XP on my brothers Evesham laptop, when I tried to create a 56k modem connection, it say that it couldnt find a driver for the modem.

We dont have the orignal disks anymore, and this laptop cannot connect to the net.

Any idea's where I can get a modem driver?

Using Belarc advisor, it only displays the ethernet adapter, and doesnt tell me what modem I have, how can I find this out?

Ive been messing around with the 'find a driver' options in device manager, and XP found one for it.

Now, when I connect, it gives me a 630 error - Line Busy.

I am using the same line as my PC, and I have disconnected from the net before hand and nothing is connected to the line>!>!

Dont bother wasting your time... just spend a tenner on a new modem (with drivers)

If you want to persist - I betcha its a winmodem ;)

mmm, never thought of that,

Are laptop modems standard sizes?

Its a eveshamvale 7521

Will try the above :)
