Fingers crossed, just dropped off the E320CDI to the dealer for rust warranty repairs. Will be with them for 2 weeks due extensive repairs (rust around the top rubber seals on 3 doors, rust on all 4 wheel arches and rust around high level brake light on the estate tailgate).

MB has agreed to 100% repairs but I am making a small contribution (comparable to Smart Repair prices) as I wanted some additional rust near these areas done at the same time which was not covered by the warranty as these were either stone chips or repaired previous by non-mercedes approved workshop.

Any chance of some before pics? Then you can show us the after pics when its done :)

My E320 is a 2000 facelift. I'm gonna examine it to check for rust.

Have they provided a courtesy vehicle?

Yes, an A150 auto. Quite impressed with the new 7 speed auto box, very smooth and gives fantastic fuel economy on the motorway (computer says 43 miles per gallon) that is better than my facelift A170 (also less twisting) and also beats the MPG on my E320CDI Estate.

Sorry, no pictures. To be honest it wouldn't show very much as I didn't spot these rusty bit before I purchased the car. In fact it was the Smart Repairs guys who pointed them out to me (because apparently the doors and wheel arches were the trouble spots). I only called the Smart Repairs guys out to attend to the rust spot (which I did spot prior to the purchase) that had spidered and some cosmetic scuffing to all four corners of the bumper!

Apparently the trouble spots are under the rubbers (top of door frames), wheel arches, boot/tailgates. If your doors are rust free, make sure your car has had the recall (to wax them) done. My dealer will do the recall AFTER my car comes back from the bodyshop so that it gets the wax treatment immediately after the rust treatment/respray.
