Hi All,
Today I went on a right old Goose chase in search of another car..
Had a list of places to visit to see C270’s.
Looked at a Grey C270 which I thought would have been “the one” but it was not to be.. The guy looked like he had come out of a “Travellers caravan” and the cars preparation was not good!
Stone chips that were Not touched up, No service history stamps at all despite it having 63k on the clock, all 4 wheels were terribly scuffed..
Whilst the guy was in his office on the phone I checked the oil level via the dashboard computer (Service mode) and it showed 4.6 litres on an engine that had stood all night. These engines are supposed to have 6.5 litres in them.
Lastly the stereo was worn through to the white plastic as though it had been worn thru by a ring or other carelessness..
I went for a test drive and the guy had left about 2 pints of fuel in it. He warned me not to go very far. The trip computer showed 9 miles remaining. I didn’t go far because I was no longer seriously interested in it.
So after travelling 110 miles I wasn’t impressed..
I had seen a very tidy looking Blue C270 but it was 125 miles from my location, in Meadowfield, Durham.
I phone up and asked Robert (The owner) to keep it for me whilst I travelled up to see it.
I can only tell you all What a difference…
You know when sometime everything just feels “Right” and the person you are dealing with seems like he is human and can actually string a sentence together??
Well this is my experience of Meadowfield motors.
I noticed lots of customers coming and going and they were all on first name terms with Robert and his mechanics.
The car was beautifully presented and has a genuine 34k miles. Full history and very well looked after indeed. Just look at the photos!
I asked Robert if I could mention his company on the forum because I am a strong believer in praising someone when they do something well. Its all too easy to shout and complain.
We went on a decent test drive and I have to admit I had forgotten just how smooth and creamy this 5 cylinder engine is..
More to the point I had forgotten how a Mercedes should feel
I agreed to have the car from Robert.
I shall pick her up on Saturday or maybe even earlier.
If any of you are looking for a Merc and you happen to see the model of your choice at Meadowfield motors then don’t worry about the quality of vehicle preparation or the friendly reception. Geordies have a reputation for friendliness and from what I experienced today its certainly well justified.
