Yet another E500 S212!

Have to say that this car is unfortunately category A and has a knackered engine and gearbox. Also, it stinks inside like something got burried in it. Sorry guys.
(Just saying so it remains for sale for a year so I can get it at a heavily discounted price if @E55BOF doesn’t buy it before me)
Perfect car and colour combo. I don’t care much about options but if almost everything is there it’s a bonus.

Just tell him it’s got no electric seats, COMAND or power tailgate and you’ll throw him off the scent ;)

I'll see your heated REAR seats, and raise you a heated steering wheel - and in a 211 too...

Thanks! Not sure why I had them as AG rather than Sport trim. Does that mean you have a black interior? Mine does and I think that was standard on Sport?
Yes, mine has black interior but I have been thinking recently of getting it reupholstered into something like a sand colour..... first quote £5k - gulp! Although I could buy the one for sale and swap the seats ... :)))

Yes, sure! Comments are welcome as this is based on my quick notes over the years and may be wrong. Those in this thread know some of these cars better than I do...

All are S212s, listed in order of appearance on Autotrader:
2015: Black E500 Sport (mine!)
2015: Silver E500 AG (I think not the same one that MiW just got, as it was highish miles: seller said it had been a chauffeur car for British Gas)
2016: Black E500 Sport (sold so fast the dealer never put up photos, but it caught my eye as it’s been the only 2011 one Ive seen come up for sale - maybe the last sold in UK...)
2017: Tanzanite E500 AG (LondonScottish)
2018: Bronze E500 AG (Konghaven)
2018: Green E500 AG (DoubleE500Mike)
2018: Silver E500 AG (seems to be a third silver one, this one was 36,000 miles and no toys)
2019: The Brown One
2020: Silver E500 AG (MikeinWimbledon)
2020: Tanzanite AG in Belgravia with 29k miles

Plus there’s the light blue one from 2017 and there’s also another Tanzanite one in someone’s garage on PistonHeads. So 12 in all. Odds are there are a few more hidden out there.

Howmanyleft lists about 150 E500 from that era but most of them will be coupes, as there’s a constant stream of them for sale on AT. Intriguingly there are 47 E500 Bluefficiency listed on Howmanyleft, which always leaves me wondering if just 1 of them is an S212. Since jdrrco found that CLS500 4.7 I’ve had a hypothesis that MB might have made a homolgation S212 as well...

I have always been curious how many S212s there ever were in the UK - passive glances on Auto Trader got me up to 6, but it sounds like we are up to 10 reading the above. I have the 2011 one - June 2011 - Obsidian black with cream (almond?) nappa leather. LOVE the car - impossible to ever replace, and love the fact most people have no idea what it is! Nice spec with factory options including Pano roof, Command (an option on any E-Class of that age other than AMG?), Memory seats, Driving Assistance Package (Blind spot assist, lane keeping assist, distance cruise control), rear side airbags, Nappa leather, Alcantara? headlining, 19 inch alloys - I think I have remembered all beyond the high standard spec of Luxury climate, Airmatic, etc. Still fully maintained by MB at 132k - a daily driver and commuter - wish I had a second for light use only and to preserve more - but there to be enjoyed right! Have even had 33.7mpg on a run with long spells of 50mph average speed cameras - that's better than my 1994 C180 which was my first MB!

I think yours is now the 13th on our list - assuming that your Obsidian Black is NOT the one that sold in 2015 (before the dealer could put up photos)

Our official Archivist will be along in a moment to confirm.

You "may" be winning the trophy for the highest mileage, but TBC

However, no glittering prizes can be awarded without photographic evidence...

I think mine is the one without photos - although there were some photos briefly there - I purchased in July 2016 as the second owner. Target mileage is 250k! :)

Target mileage is 250k! :)

Easily achievable. I've been in Mercedes V8's for two decades now, and I've made pilgrimage to Sindelfingen and Affalterbach. The thought that goes into these things and the build quality is amazing - the only thing that stops people from doing a quarter of a mill is the reluctance of people to maintain vehicles once the resale value drops.

Fully support full maintenance - I keep it in tip top condition! Sounds like the target should be 500k!

Welcome to the forum! It seems highly likely that you have that same 2011-registered black S212 that I saw for sale in June 2016, so it’s on ‘the list’ above and included in the 12 that I know of. What a great car you have, lovely spec (Comand was extra) and must have cost above £60k originally. And great to hear you are putting some decent miles on it, lots of US owners seem to run their E500 and S500 5.5 to big mileages.

I too was pleasantly surprised by the fuel use, something discussed on various threads on here in the past. Here’s a similar trip that I had.

Yes - I bought it very quickly when advertised - when I viewed it it hadn't even been prepped! I needed a car, wanted an E-estate and it pitched up for sale less than 10 miles from home at the time! Couldn't believe it as have always admired the 500's but knew they were like hens teeth! It was at about 65/66k miles when I bought it - it's first owner being a funeral director/his private company vehicle and so it wanted for nothing, and remains the case today. I have remembered it also has the wood/leather steering wheel - which is amazing to hold! There will probably be other things I keep remembering as being optional extras. I would have loved the vented/cooling seats and multi-contour massage function. Is such a shame you can no longer spec the new MBs as you wish like you could from this generation of car - as time goes on the choice becomes more and more restrictive! I plan to keep as long as I can

What would be nice is a photo of all the S212 E500’s from all the same angle lines up - one external and one internal.
Good idea! Name the angle and I’ll take some shots of mine (though it’s not too clean right now).
