    1989 500 SL for 100k anyone?

That SL has been sold a few times recently. Few years back SL Shop had it up for £50k, along with the IDENTICAL spec car that the bloke who bought both new had. He used one to death and had this one in his dining room (IIRC he was a farmer). The other one went for parts at around £2k. Prices...

Edd China to leave Wheeler Dealers

The whole thing is a real shame. The USP of the programme was buy something for less than market value (less than £1k in the early series), and do it up and sell it for a profit afther some work. Basically something that the ordinary bloke in his garage could do. Welding wide arches onto an...

MOST loop adaptors - wrong connection?

Worth mentioning that all of these connectors are made by TYCO. Now known as TE Connectivity Ltd. Nothing to do with Mercedes, but all have Merc part numbers. These connectors are pennies, but TYCO are very selective of who they supply direct to, so finding small amounts of parts for sale...

    R107 SL500 Fuel Pump Relay

Neither the original merc part or the replacement have anything written on them pin-wise.

    R107 SL500 Fuel Pump Relay

Thought I'd share.... So, last year I started having the usual issues with the fuel pump relay - basically, when you turn the key, you don't hear the whoosh of the fuel pump, and the engine turns but obviously it doesn't start as the fuel pump isn't on. I took the relay out, re-soldered it...

    Yet Another E500 estate

Code out the Airmatic with Star would be my guess. Either that or ignore the yellow warning. That steering wheel and seat look more like 250k to me though....

Should I Buy This At This Price?

That car is about £3.5 - £4k at auction. Foot mats still in the boot make me think that's where it came from. That doesn't make it a bad car, but I think at that price it's expensive. £5k, maybe a little more if it's perfect would be right from a dealer with warranty, FSH, good tyres etc.

    ANOTHER E500 estate

My E500 averaged 19.7 (measured, not what the computer thought...). Best ever tank was 29, worst was 15. I would go off those two as long motorways or round town. Great engine though.

    Both claim FSH

MOT history is a great tool, especially with older cars where rust / structure issues can come up. also easy to see if advisories have been lived with or fixed properly. In some cases can also highlight mileage discrepancies. On these cars, the first one to me would say "rust". It might not...

Brand New Series of Wheeler Dealers

Back to the important stuff. Those Lorinsers in Ep 1. What offset are they (haven't seen any for a late SL before), and where can I pick a set up for what he paid for them?

    A BMW tragedy ...

I don't actually mind it that much, save for the front and rear bumpers and the oversize suit hanger. You want to see the Hamman monstrosity at my golf club. It started out as a really nice blue new shape M5 and then got driven through a very expensive branch of Halfords which also seemed to...

Paint shop near Newcastle on tyne

Steve Abrol up in Cramlington. Did my SL a few years back and still looks good. Most recently did a mates XF-S rear bumper (in not easy to match Italian Racing Red), and did a great job. He always has loads of dealer and insurance jobs in for repair. He doesn't charge a fortune either. Tel...

Mercedes E280 CDI on Autotrader with huge mileage discrepancy

As ever with second hand cars, bills mean everything. Service books can be copied / forged, mileages can be clocked etc. I can't believe manufacturers or authorities allow it, technically it's very easy to stop. The availability of MOT history easily via the Gov website helps a lot but what is...

    R107 Won't start

Pretty sure it will. Good news is the cars now tucked up in bed so I have a few months to sort it out before April. Thanks for the help everyone - invaluable from everyone and the forum at it's best!

I'll probably end up doing this but might look for a good spare first.

    R107 Won't start

Took it apart, everything looked fine. Tested all the pins with a meter to test continuity and all good. Put it back in to give it a test, and hey presto, fuel pump back in action. Thanks for the tips guys - one to keep an eye on and might look for a spare just in case!

    R107 Won't start

In typical me fashion despite having the entire winter I couldn't help myself and tried this just now. Fuel pump runs as soon as I put the relay back in with the pins jumped. Will take it apart an see if anything looks obviously dry.

    R107 Won't start

Great, thanks for info. Good news is the car is off the road for winter so I have a bit of time to trace the fault. Will give that a shot first guys.

    R107 Won't start

HI All, Quick question. I started my car for the first time today in around 6 weeks. Started first time, no issues. Washed it, dried it, left it for a couple of hours and then went to put it in the garage and it wouldn't start. I noticed that I couldn't hear the brief buzzing from the...
