is there anyway to modify the avantgarde wood trim to make it into a double din trim like people have done with the w202 sport trim

Hi,
202 trim gets modified to accomadate a double din unit as there wasn,t an option to have command whereas with the 210 I believe there was, so a new one is available from MB.

yeah i know but its pretty expensive seeing if i can try and save money somewhere lol

Yes, it was expensive from MB, but no longer...it aint available.

no longer available? damn

The only way you can modify the existing trim is if you have digital climate control in which case you can cut the bit in between the radio and the climate control panel and smooth it off, however it will still look rather non oem as you would have to relocate the digital climate control panel to the cubby. Also note its easier to deal with W202 trim as its plastic (unless you have an Elegance) and the W210 only uses wood trims which are metal backed so a lot harder to cut neatly !

And there isn't much room behind the CC. In fact you can't even swap positions of the CC and the radio because there is not enough room to push the radio in the whole way.

Are they 100% not available from MB??

I read somewhere that you could still get hold of them but only with all the switches cut out.

I also came across an American website some time ago which supposedly had them in stock but I didn’t trust it. I will try to find the link again.

You can move the CC but it probably isn’t worth the hassle:

Looks great though

Your best option would be to try and source the trim from a model with sat nav and simply fit a double din unit in its place:

Looks just as good IMO :thumb:

i havent actually got the digital climate control

There is a wood trim available for models without digital climate control, might be a bit harder to get hold of though!

only problem with that is its an elegance trim and ive got 4 switches not 3

You will need to use a cylindrical file (e.g dremel) and carefully cut out the other hole you need, it can be done but you will need patience.

These things are rare so you may need to wait a while to get what you're after.

Ive got the trim I was looking for cost me £20 from uk ebay and its in excellent condition, now I need to find a fascia plate to put an aftermarket double din headunit in there any suggestions on where to find such a thing
