W211 Estate Rear Wiper wont return to start position

My rear wiper on my 2008 211 estate goes from fully left to fully right but stops randomly, rather than stopping in the start position. I have to keep operating it until eventually it will end up at the start position.

Is it time for a new motor?

Strip the motor....clean the copper tracks within it...when they get too dirty the motor does not "know" where the arm is. Done it a few times on various cars.

So far so good.

Did as you suggested and it seems to be behaving itself again. Only thing I've noticed is that on intermittent setting, it mainly does one sweep but occasionally it will do two or three sweeps before pausing.
