Had to drain the cold water tank in the loft in an emergency (turned the isolation valve leading to an upstairs toilet and it started spewing water everywhere).
Problem I have now is that having replaced the flexible hose + valve there's no water coming out after the tank has refilled. This...
Me and my partner purchased a 1930's victorian house a year a go now. The house needed heavy refurbishing, which is fine as we are up for the challenge.
Shortly after we moved in we had all new central heating and electrics put in. We had a combi boiler put in, along with the new style...

OK guys, my outside tap, on the outside wall of the kitchen from the sink and the incoming stopc0ck, has mysteriously stopped providing running water. this has never happened before in the 10 years we have lived here, even in freezing conditions.
I hasten to add that it's something like +10C...
We use the above for our central heating and hot water.
It's never given a moment of trouble, and I don't want to spoil the trend.
Like half of the country, we've just experienced a freeze-up and burst to an outside pipe.
It only supplies the outside tap at the back of the house, so I've done...
Hi,
We have bad sewage stench in our bathroom which seems to be coming out of the bath and wash basin drain holes. It seems to be intermittent and not always there. Any ideas what I should check/try?
Thanks!

I currently have a combi boiler however the flow (not pressure) is poor up ou road due to the mains supplying 4 houses from one pipe (old house).

Hi
We have a flat that is on the second floor of a purpose built block, recently our tenant started to complain that the water in the shower was always cold in the mornings.
We called out a plumber who tested the system and found all to be ok, he then advised us that it may be the water...
Mrs. Stratman wants the downstairs cloakroom to be redecorated. I'm thinking half-tiled walls (to window level) and stainless steel exposed pipework, such as water and heating. How easy (or difficult) is it to work with as regards bending and joining?
Heavy-handed tradesmen (so-called) have managed to bust the thermostatic head on one of my radiator valves.
Does anyone know where I could get one of these Belmont units.

The response from plumbers'merchants seems to be that they change the design every...

Bought a nice new monobloc tap , and the problem is that the hoses they supply are marginally too short (at 300mm) , they have an unusual fitting on one end as they both have to go side by side into a single tap ...

Hi All,
We have had a leaky hot water tap in the flat for ages.
Its a simple combi boiler system. I assume its just a washer or something, but do I need to drain the system to do this?
I know its simple for the cold water, just turn it off and away you go, but whats involved in replacing...
