Just wondering what type of servicing costs I can expect to have roughly on a 2018 C63 coupe.

Been informed by my Mercedes dealer than the run in oil change doesn't apply on the C63, only on the S models.

Dan

Are you looking to service it with the main dealer or independent? Worth making a few calls to get some quotes.

Dan, the run in oil change definitely applies to the C63, you should have a sticker in the top left of the windscreen that gives you the running in procedure along with the oil change. Pretty sure it's in the owner's manual too. 3000kms or 1875 miles iirc.

Actually a lot of C63S drivers don't think they need the oil change because of the electronic nature of the diff but they need the oil change just the same as the mechanical diff on the plain C63. Lots of threads about it.

I know you're with MB Sunderland, but MB Teesside didn't really know about the diff oil change either.

I paid around £260 for the first annual service (including dust filter) but I supplied my own Mobil 1 engine oil (8/9 litres iirc)

The car will be PCP so i'm assuming my only option would be main dealer?

RR, Funny you should say that because a friend has just picked up his C63 coupe from Teesside and that's where the information about the run in service came from initially.

My predicament is that due to the car being unexpectedly later than first anticipated and the fact I had to cancel a previous ferry crossing, Mercedes Sunderland have offered me an ultimatum, basically the equivalent to £1200 off the vehicle price or 2 years free servicing.

Just trying to put the feelers out to see what the best option would be financially.

Get the price of a 2 year service plan and see if it’s less than 1200? I think it will be (mine is around £41 a month)

First year's service (A service) quote from Teesside (which should be the same - both Sytner) was £389.60 including a replacement dust filter, apart from changing the brake fluid and maybe the fuel filter I can't remember what else the B service encompasses.....

Just checked and the diff oil change is in the on-line manual for running in (and every 30,000 miles there after) for AMG models, I had to argue with Teesside that it was necessary (I can still see the blank look when I took it in) which worried me and still does.............even though I showed them the running in sticker doh! If you search you'll find lots of threads on the subject. At the time they also didn't know that I was entitled to a free track session down at MB World, but thankfully MB UK normally send out an invitation e-mail directly to you.

My (brand new collected from dealer 2 days after arriving) car did not have the sticker but I went to my local dealer to book it in. They asked if I had received a letter advising the oil change which I hadn't, I subsequently contacted MB Customer Support who contacted AMG techs who advised the oil change wasn't required on my car.

Oh well, if you research it on the AMG Private Lounge there's a lot of threads on there in a similar vain. I would say look up the running in recommendations in your manual, it it's not there well that's great. If it's a PCP it won't matter either....

Mine's been done at 1850 miles and will be done again at 30000miles, as it's a keeper.

I wouldn't believe anything they tell you..........

Excerpt from the latest on-line manual for the C63/S on the Mercedes-Benz website checked two minutes ago, under running in notes (they probably told you to rag the engine from the get go too)

Locking rear axle differential (Mercedes-AMG C 63/C 63 S)
Your vehicle is equipped with a self-locking differential on the rear axle.
Change the oil to improve protection of the rear axle differential:
  • after a running-in period of 3000 km
  • every 50,000 km or 3 years
These oil changes prolong the service life of the differential. Have the oil change carried out at a qualified specialist workshop.

Mind you, the dealership will change wipers or tell you your brakes are shot when they're not, but they can't give you the right information from the handbook when a job should be done....always worries me.

I also have a 2017 c63s coupe and have just had the diff oil changed at 1700 miles FOC. I was told by MB that if I didn’t have this oil change and the diff failed at all in the future then it wouldn’t be covered under warranty.

What spec is the oil as I could do with a top up

I'l have to go get onto them. As it stands I pick the car up on Saturday morning however i'm hoping this isn't a similar situation as 2 month ago when I was originally picking them car up on the 30th of September. So far so good!

I used Mobil One 0W-40, but 5W-40 is acceptable too. Oil should be to MB-Approval 229.5, fully synthetic for petrol engines.

MB Teesside used to use Shell Helix for a while, a number of dealers use Mercedes-Benz branded oil too. MB Newcastle used to sell the stuff on E-Bay.

Received my second confirmation yesterday my car does not require the diff oil change after contacting MB customer services again to explain some people on the internet know better than their own techs so could they please double check...

Mine (OK, E Class but same recommendation as above) was bought as an ex demo, so a bit different as no-one could make their minds up as to:

1. If it needed it (It does)
2. If it had been done or not.

I ended up doing it myself as Mercedes wanted over £100 to do it. A lot over. For the sake of £12.95 for a litre of oil (I already had around half a bottle left over from another car) it would have been silly not to, and I now have the peace of mind knowing that it's been done right. I will do it again on around 25,000 miles though this could be a good while off with my current mileage...

Ensure that you have it in writing, with a name, so there can be no comeback if the diff is damaged during the warranty period.......and ask them to get MB Germany to update all user manuals for the AMG C63 series of cars.

I have 2 ref no's and e-mails trails. The issue is that the diff oil change doesn't apply to all cars as there are variances during manufacture, this would explain that some cars have a sticker with the oil change advisory and others don't - mine obviously special in some way.
