Hello

Currently after Windows XP for work to put on 8 linux based Mini Asus machines.

Only need the Licence as we have the media.

So far cheapest way is to buy Vista (£43) and downgrade?

Any other options or cheap places for legal copies.

Thanks

Would rather not use e-bay, have to pay using company card etc..

and e-bay for software thats original... too many copies I guess?

Thanks

Genuine Vista with downgrade rights for £43? I'd be surprised...

Which edition of Vista & where have you found that?

As an example, there are no downgrade rights granted for Windows Vista Home Basic or Windows Vista Home Premium.

We are paying roughly £35 or £36 for Vista (per licence) - which includes an XP downgrade... have a chat with "Toucan Computing" - tell them Michele from ACS recomdended them

From MS:

Rights to OEM versions of systems software are granted in the OEM License Terms. The OEM License Terms for most OEM versions of systems software do not grant downgrade rights. The exception is the OEM License Terms for the Windows® XP Professional operating system and the Windows Vista™ Business and Windows Vista Ultimate operating systems, which grant downgrade rights. See the full text of the OEM License Terms for the specific downgrade rights.

If you can get Vista Business and Windows Vista Ultimate for £43 I'm interested...

Hello

We get education discounts (University) so huge discount off normal prices.

We're a school - and we don't buy all that many licences as we are mac based...

Again - try Toucan Computing (I can get you a number if you want)

I was thinking about the downgrade...

We could only go 1 version back when we wanted to down grade Adoble CS3.3..

What type of licence agreement is that on & which edition of Vista?

MS agreements & pricing aren't always clear...

Ahhh, educational pricing is typically very different!

The price's were getting quoted are roughly:
£36 for Educational
£70 for Busines OEM
£120 for Business Retail

Obviously, we don't need the last two; but for some odd reason one of our suppliers insists on supplying those when we as for quotes... guess who we go with :p

But you can't tell him to buy education prices - that's why they're education prices!

I mean you might as well say give Bob the B427ard ring down our local pub, he'll sort you out a copy for a fiver!

Im afraid you'll find that FE & HE are different to schools.

So I think you may need to read up on your licences.
