E350 - Japan import - No navigation NTG 4

Hi,

I have a E350 2012, japanesse import.
The media unit has navigation (button) but I have no navigation on the car.
How can I go around this issue?

I do not have the card option to just update it in the front. I got a slot but not sure to where it connects or to what.
How can I activate navigation on it? I have the japan cd's for it.

@richard @Alfie comand.co.uk who I have tagged are the go-to people for anything to do with MB ICE/satnav etc. They are a couple of miles from J3 M3.

As above. Also, run the VIN in an online VIN decoder to see if your car has COMAND or Audio20, and what navigation options (if any) have been fitted to it at the factory. The section you are looking for in the Datacard is 5xx.

The box is probably a toll card payment device.

So do I need a resofting guy or do I need to change it to NGT4.5? Will it be compatible?

The W212 facelift had NTG4.5 (and later NTG5*1). I don't know if a retrofit from a facelift to a pre-facelift is possible, you really need to talk to a specialist (such as www.comandonline.co.uk).

So gents,

Long story short, I took it for some work at the dealership and told them about the navigation problem I have.
They couldn`t fix it by I believe they gave it a factory reset ....

As now it opens, plays for 5 seconds and then it restarts itself. and it does this continuously.

Any advices?

I spoke to them, they told me that this is how they got it. I can`t prove it was working before so instead of head butting it...if I buy another head unit a 4.0 and swap it, what kind of installation do I need to make it work? at least play radio and cd/aux? Do I need coding for it?

The Japanese market cars are wired very differently to the rest of the world.

Converting them to work in Europe requires significant rewiring and hardware changes. We have converted many of these for customers but anyone thinking of importing a Japanese Mercedes be aware they are very costly to convert. Budget on between £1500 and £4500 depending on the car, model etc.

There is a service menu, I can't remember how to get to it. But when I played with it to make video be anabled all the time even while moving. I have changed one of the settings to Japan. And it started to behave aslo very weird.

Look up for hidden manus on e350 command

Buy a Garmin and save yourself some £££ and hassle. Or use Waze !! The Merc sat nav is dire tbf.

You are right on this quality/performance issue. They haven't matched both speeds very well.... speed of satnav Vs car. Takes lots of forward thinking to use it.

You've got to try it. From what I remember, I nearly sh... Myself. Thinking that it can't be sorted out without MB cowboys.

Try doing a hard reset and go again.
