2013 E63 AMG
Hi guys, had my 2013 E63 about a week now and one of the first jobs needed is discs and pads all round. I was thinking about doing the work myself but wondered if I would need any special tools/computer intervention?

I did the brakes on my Range Rover recently, fronts were fine but rears needed a computer to wind back the callipers and reset the ABS module. Didn't want to get tripped up half way through again, especially as the brakes aren't the cheapest to buy :)

Thanks in advance!
Joel

If you access the service reset menu on you're instrument cluster there is the option to move the calipers back to fitting position.

Great, thanks! Will take a look

Are genuine parts the way to go, or are there any good aftermarket brands out there? Can't seem to find anything but genuine brakes online!

I'm a fan of genuine parts :D

Me too usually, but the £2,685 quote I got from my local dealer made me re-think :) granted that was a fitted price

Get a quote for parts only from MB Grangemouth, Newcastle and Southend, then get WG to fit them. Sorted:thumb:

Now the car is out of warranty, I would switch to a decent inde to at least save on labour.

As it happens, the price of brakes on the E63 is one of the big issues there but I would only go with OEM personally.

Certainly one of the reasons why I didn't buy the natural successor to my E55K was the running costs when I didn't feel my heart was totally in it.

Cheers guys, I will stick with gen parts then. Mercedes of Edinburgh eBay store quoted £1360 for the parts. Will have a call round to the ones listed above tomorrow too :)

Most of the indes I know are probably too far south for you to travel to unless you travel the country...

Might be worth making a trip anyway if the savings are enough.

I'm sure there must be some good Scottish indes on here!

I'm based in Surrey, it just so happened the Edinburgh eBay store was who I spoke to first as they popped up advertising the parts

In that case, you have some good options depending on where you are in Surrey...

I would guess PCS in Horndean is the closest to you.

I think it was DDR in Ashtead that popped up on google as my nearest inde. Not sure if they are known on here or not?

You could try searching but I've not personally ever come across them on here.

That is one hell of a labour charge!!!!

It is, but that price is likely to have the parts included at full list price
