Hi,
I took my car to a garage to change the glow plugs cause the light keep coming on and they snapped the first glow plug  (the one close to timing chain).Plug is still in there screewed in but the hex snapped just above the threads and now is just spinns. They managed to change 3 of them only and now am stuck with that one.

Do you know if there is any garage or enginner who can replace the snapped glow plug without taking the head off???:wallbash:
I don't want to touch the head.

I have this E220 CDi '99 for more than 4 years with 165k on the clock, never let me down and I want to keep it.

Any idea in this matter very usefull.Thank you!!!

Im thinking they broke they can fix it, but on the other hand i am sure they will but probably want a fortune?

Depending on access to the offending plug the only answer may be head off.

If it starts and runs from cold fine on 3 why not just leave it?

Yes they can be removed with a special kit.. our local engine rebuilder comes and does this for us.

Wow that is an amazing piece of kit, bloody germans!
Love the injector puller, so simple.

If you think that one was good wait to try this.

Thanks Jay, great video. I wondered how straightforward good tooling could make that job. I'm guessing the kit is pretty pricey?

OK, that's pretty cool, no helicoil necessary there then. :)

It also has the added 'power tool' attractiveness factor too...

Ian.
