2013 R231 SL350
Hi All,

I've had my SL for a few weeks now and loving it, but the urge to start doing some subtle mods is growing so I thought I'd start with the sound system.

My SL is a 2013, 350, and on the speaker balance adjustment screen only shows 2 speakers, so I'm guessing ive got the standard sound system (if there was a optional upgrade?)

To be fair to mercedes, the sound quality is better than the HK setup in my Range Rover Sport.

What are my options for upgrading? Door speakers I can change no problem, but were there extra speakers/subs/amps located elsewhere in the higher specced models? Is the pre wiring likely to be in place?

Thanks,

The honest answer is get back on Autotrader and find a car with the upgraded system in it and go and listen. Then when you have picked yourself up off the floor you can do a deal to part ex yours and it will come out cheaper than the effort to retrofit something that will be nowhere near as good.

I specified a 2013 SL350 (R231) with absolutely every pack available and then used it as a daily driver for 80,000 miles it was awesome and the system was so good that I am not sure that the one in my current S63 is even close.

If you really don't want to do that then maybe one of the aftermarket specialists like Baybrooks can retrofit the original system. But I bet you could swap it in cheaper.
