Hi, I have a W124 300E car, about this time last year - i drove it on pretty much empty and the car didn't start after that W124 300E Not Starting - After running out of fuel | Engine

A year on. i finally managed to find time to get it towed to a garage. The mechanic has replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. The fuel now is coming to Carburetor but says I need a new Carburetor since the dirt from the tank has blocked / clogged the it. I have googled around and it's the Carburetor is impossible to find.

What are my options? Mechanically I don't know much. Can the Carburetor be reconditioned? Do you know where I could source a new / spare part?

I have attached a photo it - see belowScreenshot 2023-09-22 at 03.51.28.jpg

That is a fuel injected car. It has no carburettor.

It is the Bosch KE Jetronic and it is possible that the filter to the fuel distributor filter is blocked.

Frankly, it sounds as if you need an MB specialist, not the "local" garage. A specialist would not be talking about carbs.

Good hunting.

Sadly the garage you went to were xxxxxxx useless.

Take the car to a decent local independent Mercedes specialist, and go from there.

The mechanic says ..... I need a new Carburettor since the dirt from the tank has blocked / clogged the it.

Many thanks RayH. I am now trying to find a specialist in Derby to take it to. A question I had is that the garage where it is at now, said there is a pump in the fuel distributor that isn't working. does it fuel distributor have a pump? I was thinking how such a small unit contain a pump.

One more question with regards to "It is the Bosch KE Jetronic and it is possible that the filter to the fuel distributor filter is blocked." Where is the filter to the fuel distributor located?

The fuel distributor filter is typically located near the fuel distributor unit, often inside the air cleaner housing.
William, suggest you remove your address from your personal info box. Never know who is reading it:cool:

Looks to be in Norfolk....so probably for his wife/sister/mother or Aunts address .....all the same person by the way!

I don't think so. I think it is inside the fuel distributor. It is a small gauze filter in the inlet side.

Anybody else got the feeling there's an AI bot or similar stalking the forums?

And in Norfolk. And there is a Poringland Road. Google maps is your friend!

So different road spelling, different postcode and different town. I'm assuming it's all fake as I think the answers are coming from a chat AI.
