1996 280 estate
Hi there,

My 1996 W124 estate is at the local Merc specialist and I've been told it needs a replacement oil filter housing unit (part number: A 104 180 62 10) and they've just suggested that I might want to source it myself (yep), but I've had no luck.

Mercedes no longer make the part themselves.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks,

LA.

Hi Ray,

I tried to make a purchase yesterday; giving my garage's details for the delivery address. Then, when selecting "bank transfer" as payment method, I expected to be allowed to enter my account details, but was then simply taken to another screen which thanked me for my order and said they'd process it.

based on your experience - are they likely to get in touch with the garage to exchange bank details?

Thanks,
Lewis.

Blimey. Never tried that means of payment. Always PayPal.

I should contact them via email, they've always been OK.

Sorry.

But I've just thought of a problem. Last time I tried to order, they said, "Minimum order 200€". So this might be a non-starter.

Have you asked MB? Our local MB has quoted some prices quite close to TeileProfis so you might strike lucky? Try MB Newcastle, people report good service.

Hi Ray,

Thanks again for your help.

It was MB themselves who said the part was no longer available, unfortunately.

It was TeileProfis I tried. I should be fine re the min €200. The part itself was fine, but the shipping costs bring it well above. The min order bit may just include the part(s) itself, of course.

You quoted this number: A 104 180 62 10.

If you go to an EPC with your VIN, you might find a campatible part. Try here:

I recently came across Fraubenz who has a big stock of parts for older mercs. She may well have what you want.

She is also listed as 'Classictreats' on eBay.
