I am considering selling my car.

Please note that this is not a for sale ad, so please dont delete (it will be after X Mas if I do decide to sell)

Its a W209 2003 320 Avantgarde Convertible.

Its got a few miles on it , 120000
Excellent service history, not all Merc, some specialist and 2 oil changes done by me (with parts receipts) but carried out non the less

Roof all works, elec seats, elec steering column, tom tom sat nav Sony touch audio system (steering wheel controls work), cruise, auto.

Full and complete gearbox re build last year (£2200).
New propshaft donuts, prop carrier bearing, all front suspension parts replaced, new springs and shock absorbers all round.

New discs and pads all round.

It really does drive like new...no squeeks, rattles, has taken me round Spain and to the Alps a few times and really needs nothing except a service which I will doing in the next week or so.

Weather I sell depends on what you think I might get for it. If its not worth much, I may as well keep it, but need to know!

Any estimates

What are private sales fetching on Autotrader and eBay?
It doesn't really matter to a buyer how much you have spent on it, all they want to see is a car worth the money you are asking.

If pushed I'd say between £2.5k and £3k

Thanks. Link above says £3650.

I do not expect to get back whats been spent, just wanted to poibt out that a couple of known potential issues have been sorted.

So it is actually an advert then ?

I think you should be aiming to get close to what you've spent, if you've got evidence then use it to justify your price.

Winter not the best time to sell a cabriolet if you want to maximise return. Also very much agree with comment above, it's irrelevant what you've spent, a car is only worth what a buyer thinks it's worth to them.

Convertibles always sell best in spring, or early summer.

Agree with this

The clk I bought last weekend had £500 taken off the screen price as the small trader didn't want to be stuck with £10k of his capital sat around until March

Cannot comment on the value of yours, but if 'after Xmas' you can stretch to March and the odd sunny day, it will be worth the thick end of £500 more than in the deepest depths of winter
