What's the problem and how much to fix?

Pull the head off and see if it's a valve issue only?, strip the interior out, clean up all the electrical connections, stick in a dehumidifier and go from there???? Mind, I don't really know what's what on one of these thus I won't be buying it so take my comments as possibly having little merit.

Engines usually bend con-rods if they get water in.

It could have been swamped by a vehicle coming the other way, but the air intake is quite high up so it's likely other things in the car got wet.

Oh, and it'll be a V6 so it's two heads to take off!

Yep hydrolocked,bent con-rod/s...walk away.

If the interior is dry then a second hand lump and away you go. That is IF by the way
