CLS 2016 shooting brake - wheels and tyres dilemma :-(

They usually wear in the middle on the rears. Inside wear suggests the tyres aren’t handling the weight of the car well. Thye need to be Extra Load (XL) and the correct stiffness too as a minimum (98). Anything less and the wear and pressure on the inside of the tyre and tyre wall can cause...

CLS 2016 shooting brake - wheels and tyres dilemma :-(

I have experienced similar with the wheels - they don’t have much tyre wall protection and are prone to cracking on our wonderfully-surfaced road. I bought a spare set from eBay as a result. Re tyres - suggest going for premium brands as what it costs you will pay back in terms of mileage based...

    2016 CLS Shooting Brake

Congrats. Looks a great car, colour combo and spec, and Airmatic too. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine.

    CLS Wheel Damage,.

It’s 255/40/18 for this car (and you can go 285/35/18 on the rear too). Maybe the 18’s are equally vulnerable but with more tyre wall these has to be a little more protection. OP - let us know what you do and how it goes.

    CLS Wheel Damage,.

Sorry to hear that. Good advice here. These wheels don’t seem to survive UK roads too well. I’ve replaced three so far over the past couple of years - the latest being where there is a slight crack but I don’t recall any incident causing it. I bought a good quality set secondhand but am working...

    CLS 218 AirMatic...

You can tell full Airmatic by the location of two buttons to the right of the Comand controller. One says “Sport Comfort” and the other has a rising car symbol. On the 500 it is standard but is an option on the others. If you are looking for a coupe then unless it has these buttons then the 400...

    CLS 350 - MB Recalls

Hi Edward. Not sure how to obtain the info you’ve suggested here. My car is due for service in the next few weeks so is there something I can ask for. I have data cards for both this and for a 2015 car I had before but need to know what codes I’m looking for.

    CLS 350 - MB Recalls

Mine has come in now - so perhaps supply is improving? Hope so for all waiting.

    CLS 350 - MB Recalls

I’m waiting for one too - just a week so far but based on this could be a while… the third time in 3 years one has gone. At least I don’t have lane keeping assist scaring me occasionally.

    CLS one week on

There was a 500 sold as a 218 here but only pre-facelift and only on the Coupe. Same 4.7L engine as in jdrrco‘s SB unicorn. Very rarely seen for sale though; 400 replaced it and the petrol 350 on the facelift.

    350 shooting brake noob...

Maybe! There aren’t many of us out there. Mocha Black sounds interesting too - I’ll look out for you! Not sure the red suits every car but it seems to work with the SB. I had a Tenorite grey one before and loved that too. It was my rear radar sensors that went too btw. Hope the tyres sort things...

    350 shooting brake noob...

Thanks for the update. Sounds a great car - good taste! Good to compare notes. I have had two failed radar sensors - luckily repaired under warranty, so maybe they are a common issue. Re the vibration - your theory re the brakes sounds likely. I wonder if a repaired wheel might be an issue? I...

    E Class Estate Hybrid

Hi Geoff. You may want to check that you can tow with the Hybrid. The tow bar wasn’t available as an option on it originally, and no towing weight was quoted either, unlike the rest of the range. That may have changed during the car’s life, and if so I hope the following is helpful. I had an...

    255 35 19

Bit concerning if it was a Mercedes dealer. Some of the latest CLS’s do but not yours. That should make a noticeable difference to the ride as I’m sure you’ll notice when you change them

You shouldn’t have run flats on a 218 - could be why your current experience isn’t great? If replacing you’ll get lots of good advice on here. I’ve only ever had p-zero on the front so can’t comment on any others but many on here prefer others to them. There are also some other threads it’s...
