    Re: Serpentine belt fitting

From the photo it looks as though part of it has corroded away? possibly why you cannot find a socket to fit, have you ordered a new tensioner if so then check that👍PS I would not re-fit that old tensioner anyway better with a new one given the age of it

    EGR system removal.

Wrong you obviously dont understand how crankcase breather system works especially on turbo charged engines running high boost pressures again the catch tank idea is to prevent blowwing the seals on the cranckase and block it catches the oil vapour that as been forced past the piston rings which...

    EGR system removal.

Alfatalias oil catch tank is connected to the closed crankcase breather system to prevent blowing the crankshaft seals by build up of crankcase pressure that is there on Turbocharged engines! totally different problem to EGR valve sending exhaust gasses back through the induction system

    EGR system removal.

Its not just using cheap oil! even if using bmw ll04 approved oil you still get carbon build up in the inlet system its not possible to have clean induction manifold and inlet ports when sending untreated exhaust gasses through them end of! regardless of quality of oil used

    EGR system removal.

The main benefit of removing the EGR is that you are not recycling dirty exhaust gases back through the inlet manifold and cylinders this is what causes the build up of the black gunk that restricts the air flow

W123 Inner drive shaft boot (and what its filled with)?

W123 do have oil in the driveshaft joints! as explained earlier the shafts are filled with oil BEFORE being fitted to the car as Fabmark states simply stand on end fill the boot then clamp the steel ring to seal the boot not difficult, and i am a old school retired mechanic just for the record...

W123 Inner drive shaft boot (and what its filled with)?

The shafts are filled with oil prior to been fitted to the differential! nothing to do with oil from the diff there is no connection of oilways between shaft and diff,

cash or finance? how did you finance yours?

I agree when buying a new car which i could never afford! ive only ever bought second hand, and then usually from a private seller which would make finance a lot more difficult its what suits you i guess each to there own

cash or finance? how did you finance yours?

Going back 50 60 years if you cant afford it by paying cash then you dont get it! Simples credit is the slide into trouble same as always we follow the US credit and live for tommorow and theres nothing better then actually owing your own car
