Hi again guys...
If the malfunction keeps showing up as too much oil (faulty sensor) can this be unplugged by a garage as i have a dipstick to give me a reading instead?

Hi all... my oil sensor keeps bringin up a red light on my dash saying "reduce engine oil" i have asked the garage a few times to take 1/4 a litre out at a time for me until i am now running on the "minimum" level.
Obviously my engine oil is not overfilled, as i can check this on my dipstick...

some of you may remember that i was having trouble with my oil sensor in respect that i was not getting a reading when i cycled through on my dash. however, now it seems to be working and is showing "add 2 litres to reach maximum level" so i have put in 0.5 litres and stated the car...

if my oil sensor is faulty, (not giving me a reading on my oil) do i need a new one? or could i just buy a dipstick to give me a reading? i have been quoted 240! for new sensor and labour :(

no matter how long i leave the car off for, my dash says "observe waiting time" hence the oil sensor being faulty ..... i have been told these are £70 plus vat from MB :( and around £170 for labour to fit... would i need a new one ?
