Can anyone help. Car ticks over fine until it's put in gear (auto) then it's revs between 680 and 800. No faults showing up on obd reader but it does blue a lot of black smoke and I've cleaned the egr valve. Can any one help it's the girlfriends car 2005. Thanks

Thanks markjay. I've had mirror cover off but only checked the internal connections on the lamps so I'll check the rest tomorrow. As for the drivers seat occupier sensor is there any way of testing it.
