I have also used the 20litre of SVO to 1 litre of unleaded petrol mix and it works a treat. You can get pure corn oil from Lidl for 50p a litre. Seems to give better performance than rapeseed or soya oil. Worth a try? Karl

Sounds like an intake air leak. Check the small "U" shaped rubber hose which is underneath the inlet manifold. It connects the throttle body to the plenum. It can split or come off the pipes if you had a backfire. Good luck Karl

Surely 20,000 miles between oil changes is far too long, even if using synthetic oil. Maybe better to use a mineral oil and change it at 5000 mile intervals? Even at 5000 miles the oil will be dirty.

The Lidl 15w/40 Superformel WinEnergy oil has a very good spec. I've used it many times in my W210 E300D and with in excess of 240,000 miles on the old girl, I will continue to use it at 4000 mile intervals. Costs me £6.99 though. I thought this was dirt cheap?
