broken or jammed

Have just changed the fuel and air filters, and need to know if my air filter indicator knob is broken or just jammed. I tried to turn the knob to 'reset' it but it's jammed/stuck in position showing all white on the dial. Is there a secret to making this knob turn. I tried using pliers padded...
