cars or wheels

Would anyone here know if any/some AMG cars come with spacers for the wheels? Or to be more specific - my 2001 CLK55 AMG (W208) has small spacers (5mm?) front and rear. Should it? I couldn't see an MB logo or part number from a (very) brief squint earlier on. Can't work out why they'd need...
