    How to release/undo the front of the cup holder

    Hi, Car is a C220 Cdi Sports Coupe 2002 (the original one). I'm using the excellent video at 'BENZWERKS C-CLASS CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL PART 1 OF 2' to get to the gear selector module by removing the centre console. Unfortunately I'm stuck when trying to release or undo the front of the cup...

    What is this socket?

    I have just become the proud owner of my first merc..a 1994 C200 sport!!! It does not have a cigarette lighter but in the bottom centre console stowage area it has a strange socket with a flip cover....the socket looks like a thinner than normal cigarette lighter socket and has a copper clip...
