compatabilty

Hi My wife has just got the new A180 AMG Sport which has the Audio 20 system as standard. I have tried to plug an iPod (various versions) into the USB port and the system can't recognise it. The dealer says this is normal. Call me cynical, but I am not 100% convinced they actually know...
