latch or soft

Last week I opened the boot and the "soft touch" made it's wirring noise - but did not stop until I poked my finger into the lock mechanism. No more noise, but the lock would not engage just bounce and not shut. luckily the weight of the tailgate keeps it shut for normal driving, even heavy rain...
