selecter

The light which shows the gears has gone out, it's been a bit dicky for a while, can anyone tell me if it has a bulb or if its fiber optic and in either case how do I fix.

Hi, Can any one tell me if the auto selecter gate is the same for all model years of the 190? I have a 1990 2.0l model and managed to get one from a 1983 model but it seems too big to fit? Also do you have to lift the whole wooden suround to get it to fit? Sorry for the daft questions...
