£95,000 when new??????

Those seats look like they've come straight out of a W208...

£45k perhaps seller says they paid £32,995 9 years ago.

I think it's feasible it could have cost £95K originally, although if it did, then it must have been really painful for the original owner who lost £60K in 3yrs!

That is one of the highest spec W209s ive seen - including Distronic and keyless entry, adjustable ride height. + its the 500

Pretty certain it was 90k to be honest...!

-Battery cover is in the drivers footwell - has it been left standing for a while?
-Drivers seat looks filthy
-Slam panel has rust on it.
-No Bootlip spoiler - stolen

Overall looks a bit of a dog.

Yikes, goes to show what happens when you go crazy with the options list.

Didn't realise that stylie speedo cluster had been out since 2002 - it looks strikingly similar to what's in the W219 CLS. You learn something every day.

Parkers reckons new price range was £28,735 - £49,240 so I'd be surprised if they managed to spec £45k in options?

AMG maybe but I doubt an optioned-up 500 is anything like that.

£50k maybe...£90k...no way!!!

You could have bought a W215 CL500 at the time with all those options for around £90k!

It does look more like £50K base and there's an options list on AutoTrader which makes it hard to see how more than about £10K of options could be on the car, even including COMAND and Distronic.

Suspect someone has been looking at the 63 AMG version but even that wouldn't have been much over £70K.

Those options are £500 to £3k each (for maybe the sat nav and one or 2 others) so can't see it myself.

100% W209 interior.

The spoiler wasn't nicked, just not a part of the package for some reason. I've seen a few 500's like that. My neighbours 320 also has the AMG kit minus rear spoiler.

Despite the spec no way is that a 90k car. 60k maybe but even then doubtful.

As above back then 90k would've got you a nice CL.

To get to £90,000 for a W209 500 is impossible, even if it'd have had Designio paintwork and interior.

No way could it have been £50K, has to be more. My mate bought a brand new poverty spec CLK200 cabriolet (non sport) in March 2004 for £42k and the car came from the factory with a bloody cassette player! MB Lakeside retrofitted Comand and CD as a sweetner.

How much of a premium would the cabrio have been?
Did your mate not haggle?

My S211 had, say 90% of the available options and as a 2008 car I costed the options at £16K, and the retail at c£56K.

My S212, also very well stacked, retailed at £92K in 2010, and is an AMG.

I think £95K for a 2002 CLK is, er, sales speak.

Shame we can't find a PDF price list to prove it once and for all as it's pretty clear it's bull.
Just how much bull is the question.
No one got an old price list?

currently at the heady heights of £1490, bearing in mind all the **** and bull about prices you'd think the seller would put a reserve on it
