These rarely come up for sale. Assuming that it is actually a sportline as it only says sportline suspension in description.

That looks nice, but then again it should be at 9 grand. Price a bit optimistic imho. Dealer plates (Lancaster?) good but flush speakers in rear shelf (assuming metal beneath is cut) would be a deal breaker for me.

I do too, but I'd only really consider a 190 if it was a sportline spec car.

No price listed on the MTSV car yet, but I think it will be around the £9K mark too.

Look for the hump in the boot (to accomodate wider spare wheel) as an easy indicator of Sportline spec.

Never having driven a sportline spec Mercedes of this era are they a dramatically different drive to standard spec cars?

Turns out the car is only round the corner from me, so I will arrange to go and see it. Seller sounds genuine.

Looks like a nice car Simon, good luck with the viewing

I know the blue black with cream leather example, it's in excellent condition throughout the last time I saw it.

It's not a sportline but could have the suspension and wheel option, worth doing a data card check to be certain.

MTSV did have a lovely 2.6 Sportline in ruby with cream interior with c76k miles for c£12k...which i was tempted by...but it appears to have sold

He usually has very nice cars at very nice (for him) prices; fine if that's what you want and can afford. Grubby oiks usually need not apply...

Yes buy low sell high is a well known tried and tested car dealer tactic. If the dealer has talent at selecting genuine cars more power to him. The almandine w210 2.6 listed does look very nice, apart from the rear spoiler which really spoils any non 16 valve w201 imho. They look much better without it.

This dealer has a nice looking low mileage w201 2.6. Not a sportline though.

That car does look nice, it’s been for sale for many months though. Low miles too. Something just doesn’t appeal to me though. I think it’s that cloth interior otherwise I’d have already been and seen it.

I was tempted too, but at £13K, just seemed too much. It looked a great car though and if it had been a full sportline with the full interior then I think it would have been a different story.

It’s similar spec to the car I posted, but that almandine one had AC, this blue/black one doesn’t. I spoke with the owner, seems a genuine enthusiast with other MB’s, it’s got sportline suspension and steering wheel, but interior is just standard other than it’s leather of course.

That’s one thing I swore I’d never own a car again without AC!!! I know it wasn’t as common back in the 80’s and early 90’s but I’ve pretty much dismissed every car if it hasn’t had AC.

There have been some decent looking cars for sale but without AC. There was a 2.6 190e sportline in white, 103K miles, on car and classic only about a month ago. It was a full sportline too with the check interior and sports seats. Looked a nice car but I dismissed it as no AC. I was driving through Camden last week and saw a nice white 2.6 sportline parked in the street, I stopped and put a message in the windscreen, the owner called me and guess what he’d only owned it 2 weeks and it was that same car! Ok it wasn’t perfect, but was in really good shape with no evident rust, it was advertised at £6.5K and the buyer said he didn’t pay that for it. The new owner seemed chuffed I’d spotted it and asked about it.

^^ He might be forced to sell if/when the ULEZ is extended outwards.

I wonder if importing a 190E from Japan is a possibility. It would almost certainly have a/c.

AC is very rare, I’m so glad I held out for one when I bought mine. They were tricky to find over ten years ago

The guy was Australian I think and said he was only going to be in the country for 2 years and would then be selling the car when he leaves. He’s keeping my details just in case, but 2 years is a long way off!

There are a few with AC about including the current blue/black one on MTSV website. That looks a lovely car but I really want a sportline model as I just think they sit too high otherwise. I guess I could just get a standard model and change the suspension components.

w201 beige cloth interiors are not my cup of tea either. MB Tex is for me the ultimate w201 interior trim spec. So rare sadly.
