Does anyone know where the blower motor and resistor is located on the w168? I can not find it at all and couldn't find anything about it online either..

I had another look, I could not find it at all, the problem is that the blower blows fine on fan speed 1, 2 doesn't work, 3 and 4 are exactly the same (no speed increase) then 5 is fine.. this would be the resistor right?

Sounds like it but only a diagnostic will tell for sure. Have a look at your model on the website 7 Zap Mercedes - there is a diagram of the relevant component layout under the "Heating and Ventilation" section. You may be able to suss it out from there. Also try You Tube - someone may have done a vid on replacing the resistor for your model.

scanning it with a diagnostic computer showed 0 faults.. I was wondering though, would a faulty resistor have the same effect as unplugging it? I managed to unplug the resistor and the blower would only work at fan speed 5, and then plugging it back it, it went back to how it was, 1 was ok, 2 didn't work, 3 and 4 were the same speed and 5 was fine

If it was mine I'd be buying the resistor mentioned in the above website and trying it, for the sake of £30 ish.

Mine is a 169, so just lifted away carpet in drivers foot well, unplugged and fitted took about 10 minutes

Shows about half way through vid.

Theres another page on resistor

Mine had failed and only worked on speed 5, I never tried with it unplugged

As above cost of part is cheap, give it a go.

Let us know how you get on as this issue pops up from time to time and solution may be help full to others

Mine had failed due to corrosion, caused by the water drain being blocked in pollen filter housing, and water flowed into heater and inside of car

I did manage to get the resistor out as pictured below, once you know where it is it's a 2 min job to get to so will be really easy to replace once I get the new part.. I'll keep you guys updated too on whether that fixes the problem or not
