2006 220CDI Sport Heater

What part does the external heater sensor play in controlling the heating syste.

Although my car gets to normal running temp the heater does not feel like it’s working yo it’s full capacity.

The external temp whenever I check it always seems to be +6 or very close.

I was wondering if this could cause the heater to run cooler.

The thermostat and housing was changed a couple of years ago .

They don’t seem very expensive so may give it a try.

What part does the external heater sensor play in controlling the heating syste.

Nothing except to disable the a/c compressor at temps below 5c, to prevent the condenser from freezing.
