CLS 320 CDI
Hey Guys,

In February this year I bought an amazing CLS 320CDI and its been running fine. Its time I get new tyres for the car however I'm a little confused. My dad also had a CLS a few years back and his rear and front tyres had different tyre sizes. On my car however I have the same tyre on all 4 wheels. The MB Dealer can't help as they think I have 17" on my car but I have 18". Costco and a few other places suggest I need 245/40R18's on the front and 275/35/R18 on the rear and so do other sites. Does anybody know what would be correctly I have 18" Mercedes alloys with 245/40/R18's on all 4.

Thanks
G

Are the rims the same width front and back?

Are they genuine MB wheels or after-market?
Without knowing the rim width it's very difficult to suggest the correct tyre width

Post a pic of the wheels if you can?

Post a pic of the wheels if you can?
These are the best pictures I currently have. Will get better ones when I leave work

Then they will have the part number and sizes stamped on the back of the spokes.

Rims

If they are stamped front and rear they will be staggered. Saying that only my rears are stamped . rear only. People put 245 40 18 on all-round to save money. But the rears will be stretched on the rear rims . not ideal.

You really need to see behind the wheel for the J number on a front and a rear wheel. Also look for a mb part number to prove they are genuine .

As the 320 CLS CDi is not dissimilar to my E320CDi Sport (and assuming your wheel rims are a suitable size) then rears could possibly be the same as on my E : 265/35/18/Y 97, my front tyres are 245/40/18 Y 97.

245/40R18's on the front and 275/35/R18 on the rear is the correct size if the wheels are 8.5j and 9.5 j

Yes the rear wheels have different offset but wheel size is the same.
I use Vredestein Quatrac 5 245/40R18 97 Y XL - all around for last 5 years but I am a second owner so no info what was there
originally.

When I had my CLS with 18s from the factory it had rear axle only stamped on the alloys, but the tyres were the same all round 245/40/18. Some models roll on the same size front and rear, others have wider rears depending on engine size and rim style chosen. The ones on your car I would say are of the correct size.
