2014 E220 Cdi AMG Sport estate
Hi All,

I'm just about to replace the discs and pads on all four corners of my 2014 E220 Cdi AMG sport estate as I've done on all my past Mercs. However, I have just spoken to someone who mentioned that I have to be careful when compressing the piston back into the calliper on some ABS models as it may cause damage to the braking ecu as the brake fluid is not designed to flow backwards?

I've not heard of this before and I'm a little concerned that I may cause serious damage to my car by just changing the discs and pads. Can anyone enlighten me if this kind of braking circuit exists? and if so does it apply to my 2014 E220 Cdi AMG sport estate?

Appreciate any info in advance

They said this on my c Class, open the brake fluid reservoir cap and push the piston back slow. I had over the time i had it maybe two full sets of discs and maybe 3 front sets of pads and 2 on the rear and never had a problem. However do you have an electronic parking brake??? (mine does )

Hi Paul, No I have the normal foot brake pedal. Have you heard of this before then? I was also told to look for a bell shaped cover on the rear of the ABS/ECU unit (Which I don't Have on my car) as this is the type that does not allow brake fluid to be pushed back?.

Cheers Buddy, appreciate your help.

Anybody else heard anything like this?
just want to be 100% sure I don't damage my braking system

If you are unsure crack open the nipples just enough to let fluid weep out .then push the piston back in . then retighten the nipple.

Thanks for the tip OFTR, That's exactly what I was thinking of doing.
